Facialplasty
– Surgery to restore a more youthful facial appearance.
Some of these procedures can be performed on an outpatient basis
under local anesthesia. The more complicated, lengthy facialplasty
procedures are done under general anesthesia and require an overnight
stay.
 |
Since the face usually ages as a unit, I commonly perform
multiple procedures (i.e. brow lift, face/neck lift and blepharoplasty)
during the same operation. For facial resurfacing to improve
wrinkling, texture or undesirable pigmentation, I prefer chemical
peels and dermabrasion to laser resurfacing. The results are
as good or better than laser resurfacing and these procedures
are more cost-effective.

Rhinoplasty
– Surgery to change the appearance of the nose and improve
nasal breathing. A good rhinoplasty should produce a natural-looking
nose that is in harmony with the rest of the face, rather than one
that is overdone and “surgical” in appearance.
 |
In addition to aesthetics, rhinoplasty can provide improved
nasal breathing, which can greatly improve patients’
quality of life. Minor nasal procedures can be performed under
local anesthesia; however, I most often perform rhinoplasty
under general anesthesia on an outpatient basis.

Otoplasty –
Surgery to correct deformities of the external ear. Ear deformities
can range from simply prominent ears to major complex defects.
 |
Minor ear set back procedures can be performed under local
anesthesia, although small children usually require general
anesthesia. Major deformities often require complex, multi-staged
reconstructions.

Lip Augmentation
– Surgery to enlargen and reshape the lips. For lip
enlargement, I prefer using dermis, the deeper layer of the patient’s
own skin. The results are excellent and permanent, and nothing artificial
need be introduced into the patient’s body.
 |
Collagen and fat injections do not last, and I do not use
materials from other organisms. Lip augmentation is performed
using local anesthesia and is a very simple, effective procedure.

Chin Augmentation
– Surgery to enhance chin projection. Most of the time
I use a silicone chin implant, although in some cases a portion
of the patient’s mandible is simply repositioned. Chin augmentation
is sometimes combined with rhinoplasty or facialplasty to bring
better balance and harmony to the facial features. Local anesthesia
is often adequate for chin augmentation.
