I am a native of Schenectady, New York and graduated from Union College in 1968. I received my M.D. degree from the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine in 1972 and interned at Albany Medical Center. I did my residency training in General Surgery and in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and also completed a Fellowship in Hand Surgery at The Cleveland Clinic in 1982. I have practiced plastic surgery in Schenectady since July of 1982. I was certified by the American Board of Surgery in 1981 and by the American Board of Plastic Surgery in 1983. I am a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) and of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS).

When not practicing plastic surgery, I am a PSIA certified ski instructor, an avid motorcyclist and mountain bike rider and enjoy all sorts of outdoor activities. My wife, Katherine, and I have been married since 1972 and have three grown children, Terra, Sam, and Ezra.

My practice at this time is almost exclusively dedicated to cosmetic surgery. I regularly attend meetings and seminars and visit with surgeons all over the country to keep up to date on the latest techniques and advances in cosmetic surgery. I utilize surgical procedures that are reliable, cost-effective, and produce excellent results. I do not believe in utilizing expensive technology (i.e. lasers) when equal or better results can be achieved using lower tech, more economical means (i.e. chemical peels, dermabrasion). I also prefer procedures that provide long-lasting or permanent results rather than using materials that provide very temporary results and are very expensive (collagen, Botox, etc).

Today, surgeons and physicians from varied specialties are performing cosmetic & plastic surgery to maintain their incomes and avoid having to deal with managed care. As a result, there is a lot of marketing and a lot of hype to secure a share of the cosmetic surgery market. Cosmetic surgery has become a big, competitive business. In my practice, I always make surgical excellence and my patients’ happiness and well being my foremost considerations.
